Figuring out how to increase energy in the MMORPG Torn is important for progressing quicker, ranked wars, and all sorts of fun events. This is why it’s important to learn how you can get more energy. Especially since you’ll need it for the majority of Torn activities.
By default, you’ll have access to a maximum of 100 energy that regenerates 5 every 15 minutes. This is one reason many players consider Torn to be a marathon rather than a sprint. Similar to other MMORPGs like Eve Online, you’ll need to play long-term.
Fortunately, there are tricks to get energy quicker and to even increase your 100 energy maximum. We’ll dive into every tip and trick you can take advantage of as both a new and experienced player.
Disclaimer: This guide is about the text-based MMORPG Torn and has some mention of drugs like Xanax and LSD even though we’re only talking about the in-game items.
How to Increase Energy in Torn
Increase Your Maximum Energy to 150
The first trick in this guide is about increasing your maximum energy by becoming a Donator or Subscriber. You can either buy a Donator Pack with in-game money or spend real money to become a Subscriber.
Regardless of which path you pick, your maximum energy will increase to 150 and you’ll then get 5 energy every 10 minutes. This isn’t in addition to the previous 5 every 15 minutes, but rather shortens the timer. Also, there are a couple of other benefits as a Donator or Subscriber. Even though only Subscribers get monthly gifts and access to daily point giveaways.
Use Items to Get Energy

The most common way to get energy is to use items like Xanax and LSD in Torn. Unfortunately, the cost can add up fast even if you’re not new. However, it is one of the better ways to get energy and surprisingly, cheaper methods.
Due to how drugs in Torn work, you can only use one at a time while your cooldown is active. This means you can use one Xanax every 6 to 8 hours for 250 energy. Although, there is the chance that your character overdoses and you lose 100% of your energy, nerve, and happiness (among other cons).
Most Torn players will use Xanax to stack their energy to the maximum of 1,000 for grinding battle stats via happy jumps. While people who have been playing for a long time will just pop them and train their stats immediately. Regardless, make sure you don’t go past 1,000 since you’ll lose anything above that amount.
The cheaper option is LSD which provides 50 energy among several other benefits. But, there’s still a chance of overdosing and having negatives like losing 100% energy, nerve, and 50% of happiness. Unfortunately, the cooldown time is the same for both items still coming in at 6 to 8 hours.
Aside from those two items, there are a few more for gaining energy in Torn:
- Feather Hotel Coupon: Refills your energy and increases your happiness by 500. This is an expensive option with a 6-hour booster cooldown.
- Green Easter Egg: Gives you 500 energy and a 6-hour booster cooldown. Can only get them during the Easter event.
- Energy Drinks: There are nine different energy drinks that provide energy and booster cooldown on use. Faction upgrades and the CaffeineCon holiday can increase the amount you gain.
Buy Into the Mc Smoogle Corp Stock Dividend
Before you can start buying stocks in Torn you’ll need to spend 25 Points to unlock the Stock Ticker. Then, you can buy shares of different stocks to gain useful dividends. One example is the Mc Smoogle Corp which provides 100 energy every 7 days for each increment you have.
The first increment/level requires 350,000 shares which constantly changes in price due to Torn simulating stock price fluctuations. For each increment you buy after the first one, you’ll continue to gain another 100 energy per 7 days.
Spend 25 Points on a Daily Energy Refill

As the subheading says, you can spend 25 Points once a day to refill your energy. This will fill it to whatever your maximum amount is. Therefore, you’ll benefit more as a Donator or Subscriber from this tip. You can use your refill at the Points Building.
Points can be expensive but there are a few ways to get them in Torn. For the majority of players, they’ll likely buy them from others via the Points Market. Even though you can exchange certain items like plushies at the Museum for points. However, this requires learning the History education to unlock.
Torn Company Perks That Give Energy

Torn has a ton of different player-run companies that you can get a job at for certain perks. However, some company owners may be picky about who they accept since your worker stats play a role. This is because each company has a ranking from 0 to 10 stars that provides access to each perk. As well as job points to spend on perks.
While some companies have perks that can give you items like Energy Drinks, this section focuses on immediate energy perks. Check the table below for each Torn company alongside their required stars, job points, and rewards:
Company | Stars Required | Job Points Needed | Perk Rewards |
Farm | 10 | 1 | 7 Energy |
Game Shop | 10 | 1 | 1 Nerve, 5 Energy, 50 Happiness |
Candle Shop | 7 | 1 | 5 Energy |
Furniture Store | 1 | 1 | 3 Energy |
Pub | 1 | 1 | 3 Energy |
Restaurant | 1 | 1 | 3 Energy |
That’s about all there is to this Torn guide on how to increase energy. Unfortunately, it often revolves around spending in-game money which can be rough if you’re new. That’s part of why we put together a guide on How to Make Money. But, the more energy you train, the quicker you’ll unlock better gyms with higher gains.
