10 Best Idle Games on Android

Best Idle Games on Android List

Are you a fan of idle games where you can choose how much time you put into them and still have fun? Idle games have always been a great way to keep making progress even when you don’t have a lot of time. That’s why I put together this list of some of the best Android idlers for killing time.

This list includes a variety of games where some require more activity than others. With that said, I mostly avoided including any games that have aggressive advertising. Nobody wants to have their entire gameplay interrupted by ads. I’m more a fan of optional advertising where you can get boosts. One quick note that more games will be added to this list over time and they aren’t in any particular order.

1. Prison Empire Tycoon

Prison Empire Tycoon is a popular idle game on Android for a good reason. It stands out from your average idle game by making you actually think about your upgrades. As the warden of several prisons, you’ll need to keep your prisoners happy in a sims-like fashion.

Instead of simply buying the next upgrade to make a number go up, you have to strategize what to pick first. Otherwise, you may end up with a riot on your hands that you can’t quite handle. Fortunately, Prison Empire Tycoon doesn’t have any forced ads. However, it sometimes feels like you need to watch them for extra money. My main issue with this idler is the offline time is only an hour without paying.

2. Bacterial Takeover

Bacterial Takeover is a fun idle clicker for killing time regardless of how much time you have. Take on the role of a mad scientist destroying planets by spreading bacteria to them. Over time, you’ll go from creating bacteria in a petri dish to using countless space stations.

Ads aren’t too aggressive in Bacterial Takeover even though I’ve heard they may become more common. With that said, there are optional production boosts you can watch ads for. The only forced ads are when you destroy a planet which can take around 30-60 minutes depending on your playtime.

3. Idle Mafia – Tycoon Manager

Idle Mafia is a great idle game if you love the mafia/crime aesthetic. This Android game revolves around rebuilding your empire as you jump from level to level. It’s also a decent MMO if you’re looking for a community to take part in. Similar to many MMO games on Android, you can join a gang to team up with other players.

The early levels move quickly so you’ll need to actively play before you can take a step back. Due to how the ascension mechanic works, you’ll frequently reset as you beat each level/area. However, this also unlocks new content, new buildings to conquer, and ways to make money in Idle Mafia. It’s worth mentioning that you get characters via gacha chests, even though you can get free chests often.

4. Egg, Inc.

If you’re looking for a more traditional idle game, Egg, Inc. is worth checking out. You’re tasked with creating your own farm of chickens and collecting their eggs to sell. As you build your business from the ground up, you’ll eventually ascend to new egg types. This is where it gets silly as your eggs become ridiculous ones like rocket fuel.

Managing your farm is on the simpler side as you mainly deal with egg transportation and having enough housing. Otherwise, you’ll spend your money on new ways to get more out of each egg. While certain upgrades will hatch chickens for you, you can also contribute as well. Even though the free offline collecting time is two hours, Egg, Inc. at least doesn’t have forced ads.

5. Idle Miner Tycoon

With over 100 million downloads on the Play Store, I had to mention Idle Miner Tycoon. This idle game is relatively hands-off as you watch your mining business grow. When you’re first starting out, you’ll need to expand by opening new mine shafts for your miners. However, once you get past the initial startup, you’ll only need to check in a few times a day.

But, if you prefer, you can leave Idle Miner Tycoon for up to 30 days before returning. Unlike many idle games, this makes it unique by having such a long time allowed for being offline. You can easily return and upgrade your business to keep the profits coming in. Although, if you prefer to play more often, the developer frequently runs themed events as well. My only qualm is that progress feels a little slow.

6. Legend of Slime

The first enemy players often fight in RPG games is the cute little slime. Legend of Slime flips the script by taking the fight to all those humans with your help. Gather your slime friends and protect the monster forest in this idle RPG game. For once it’s not the cute little slime being farmed for experience!

Legend of Slime is a solid idle RPG with up to 12 hours of offline time. And you don’t have to worry about any forced ads. Similar to the majority of idlers, you can watch ads for extra rewards, however. That aside, this idle Android game has a great chiptune soundtrack. You may want to disable the often loud explosions from skills though. Also, Legend of Slime works well for checking in daily to complete tasks.

7. Idle Heroes

If you’re a fan of MMORPGs with a fantasy setting, but you still want your idle experience, Idle Heroes is the way to go. While it is a gacha game, there is a good amount of opportunity to still get heroes for free. It’s worth mentioning that you’ll want to think long-term if you start playing Idle Heroes. You won’t unlock everything within the first 24 hours of playing like you can with some idle games.

Instead, you’ll need to grind over a long period of time checking daily to make progress. This is because of how the campaign works with hard walls blocking progress. So don’t be surprised if you hit a point where you can’t actually do anything but wait. With that said, you can still have fun planning teams for both PvE and PvP content. As well as joining a guild to pass the time in chat.

8. Epic Monster TD

Epic Monster TD, originally named Idle Monster, is one of the more unique idlers on this Android game list. If you’re familiar with tower defense games, you’ll want to check this one out. I love how the developer combined the two genres by making an idle tower defense game. It’s almost silly to think there aren’t more since it just clicks.

While Epic Monster TD isn’t my favorite idler in this list, I do like what they’re going for. It’s great if you’re looking to put a little time in and then run it offline for hours gathering gold. I agree with some reviews on the Play Store that it does feel shallow. But, I really wanted to include it because of the tower defense aspect.

9. Almost a Hero

Almost a Hero is a cute idle game that can be hard to put down once you get started. Part of this is because the progression speed feels good so you don’t have to wait much early on. Plus, it continues to make active and idle play work well enough that you can make a difference.

Regardless, the story of Almost a Hero is a play on the name since you put together a band of almost heroes. Examples include the blind archer, the cursed blacksmith apprentice, and even an Innkeeper with a table for a shield. When working together they make up a decent team in this fantasy medieval world.

10. Cookie Clicker

Cookie Clicker is pretty much where clicker games started so if you’re a fan of the genre, you may already know about this one. I’m always a fan of idle games with offline progression and this is one of them. With that said, Cookie Clicker often works well for active play too.

However, it does get a little grindy once you put a few hours in. This means you’ll need to get further via ascensions to reach the more active gameplay. My main complaint with playing Cookie Clicker on Android is that it doesn’t have as many achievements and features as PC.

That’s all there is to this list of the best idle games to play on Android phones. Just to reiterate what I mentioned in the intro, I will add more games to this article over time. Make sure to leave a comment below if there’s an Android idle game I should add to the list!
