TAP! DIG! MY MUSEUM! is a simple but fun archaeology themed Android game that you can put plenty of time into. It works well for both quick and long sessions depending on what works best for you.

Before jumping into this TAP! DIG! MY MUSEUM! Android review, I want to disclose that I played with the Play Pass active. This prevented me from seeing any ads so I can’t comment on how those are. Positive reviews on the store page lead me to believe they aren’t aggressive.

TAP! DIG! MY MUSEUM! is a cute game where you curate a museum and dig for fossils. While there isn’t any story to follow, your main goal is to attract visitors by filling the museum up. Over time you’ll collect coins from visitors to buy new tools and go on excavations.

This is where the main gameplay is as you dig at different tiles to try and reveal hidden fossils. When you first start playing, you’ll find that your dig charges are quite limited. But, this quickly fades as you earn money at your museum.

TAP! DIG! MY MUSEUM! Review Fossils
As you make progress you’ll come across regions with tougher tiles to dig through. This can make it difficult to find fossils.

The excavation minigames work well for quick sessions if you’re on the run. However, you’ll need to put in some time watching your museum to collect coins. The cost of excavating is the only wall that prevents you from progressing in TAP! DIG! MY MUSEUM!

I rarely ran into money issues even with the Play Pass benefits on my side. However, this can be an issue for people playing offline without internet or data. While fossil progress and upgrades save, money and other progress doesn’t seem to.

This can make TAP! DIG! MY MUSEUM! tougher to play if you don’t have a reliable internet source. That’s really my main complaint since there’s nothing more frustrating than losing progress. With that said, if you leave TAP! DIG! MY MUSEUM! running, a lot of coins will drop that you can scoop up later.

Around an hour into playing, I also unlocked essentially a Roomba robot vacuum that passively gathers coins. You’ll still need to keep an eye out for visiting dogs dropping the premium currency of Gems. There aren’t many opportunities to get Gems without spending money, but there are a few.

TAP! DIG! MY MUSEUM! Bulldozer Item Gems
Spend Gems on unlocking consumable items like the Bulldozer for clearing tiles in one quick sweep.

Alongside dogs dropping Gems, you can also get them while digging for fossils and from the Item Roulette. I haven’t had much need for Gems even though you can purchase new tools and consumable items. Also, you can buy upgrades if you’re low on coins.

With all that said, I can see myself putting a few hours into TAP! DIG! MY MUSEUM! before it starts to get boring. Depending on how quickly you gather money you may rush through content too fast. This can make the minigames too easy as you blast through them.

TAP! DIG! MY MUSEUM! Gameplay on Android

That aside, there are goals you can aim to achieve under the Report button menu. This is great for those of you that love to hunt achievements. There aren’t a ton, but here are a few examples:

  • Reaching a certain number of fossils
  • Reaching a certain number of visitors
  • Reaching a large amount of gold

I don’t have much more to say for my TAP! DIG! MY MUSEUM! Android review. I never ran into any bugs or problems while playing. And I never hit a wall that stopped me from playing either. Overall, I’ve enjoyed my time with this Android game even though it doesn’t do anything mind-blowing.

Review Score: 8/10
